Website: A W.I.P

So check it out, it's being updated every so often, however it's currently just an image with no interaction ability ^^; Anywho, get those suggestions in now, I won't be around all night -_-

And now the render test.

Product Labeled - For Jesse

Here you go Jesse. Anymore questions, contact me.
I've sent the presentation. Please check your inboxes (if it's not in one of your email addresses, it's probably in a different one so check them all).

For tomorrow, please dress up a little bit so that it looks like a "business presentation". Ie: I am wearing a blazer with jeans. Please do not wear a hoodie or something. Let's all look nice and uniform and professional.

:)

Sorry if I'm being really task-masterish. I just really want to get this thing over with.

PS: We're presenting first. So be prepared to go and be on time to class.

:)

Hello peoples

OK, so I'm almost done the powerpoint presentation. I'm just waiting on Mike to send me his stuff (*Looks at Mike meaningfully*). When I'm done, I'll make sure to email it to y'all. Please make sure that you read the notes in the powerpoint presentation because it will contain cues as to when people will be speaking etc. Make sure you have crap planned to say for your turn.

Also, if you CAN'T open the actual powerpoint (because I'm on a Mac and there might be Mac/PC errors or some crapola) I'll also send along a PDF of the slide show with the notes. Which sucks because you can't see all the perdy animation and effects I've added.

For any changes that need to be made, please post a message on the Blog or email me at laura.nicole@mac.com (emailing me might be better because my email app makes an annoying sound when I get an email so I'm likely to read it faster if you email me). But I won't be home from 6pm - 11:30pm cuz I'll be at work.

Don't send me changes at 1am or something rediculous because I will not see it and your "changes" will NOT be changed.

So deadline for "changes" is midnight I refuse to stay up really later to finish this project. Mostly because I hate this class.

OK. I'm starving. Going to go eat some lunch now I think.

I know y'all just NEEDED to know that last bit. It was so very vital.

Hi VJ

I have a favor to ask of you. you know that picture you have of the back of the the mp3. it hass all these little labels but nothing on them. I'm confused as to what some are. like one on the side of it.

Could you label them. because too me they look like black spots but if I knew what they are I can make them look like what they are.

Please and thank you.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ! -

Had to change the camera spot. XD

To Jesse

Hello Jesse,

The concept art is in the OLDER POSTS, I do not think that the new sketches will be any different than they were before, other than a few colour schemes. So I would say that you can begin modeling the MP3 player whenever you wish.

If you have any questions, contact through Facebook or by phone:

8.12.07

Too VJ -

Could you post it soon. I would like to get the concept art. :) I really have no clue what to do till I see it.

Details coming Soon

Hey Laura & Amanda,

I will be posting the sketches soon. Haven't had enough time to finish up on the sketches because of the.....you know what, Skate, Toy project, EAC150's dang Final assignment. Anywho, I will get on that; the sketching (colour tests etc) some more for the MP3 as soon as possible.

  • the design will remain as it is now. (maybe I'll change the button placement if necessary)
  • colour? yes the MP3 deserves to be "chrome"
  • it would be very nice to have a reflection for the mp3 as well as the logo-as Laura mentioned. (as I said I will be posting the sketches on tuesday or earlier, in order for Jesse to be able to model the MP3)
Thats all for now, I WILL be posting real soon, as soon as I am done with all the work from other classes.

5.12.07

Website reply ... so Amanda doesn't go crazy

Okie dokie. So, the color scheme of the one we're marketing is silver. No no no. Chrome. Sounds nicer. Name of the player? Si.Amplify. Distinguishing feature: erm. Take a look at the original sketch. I'm assuming it's still similar (who's designing this thing? Vijayant? A little help here. If you can post the sketch = awesome).

For the website, maybe something simple. Black, streamlined. Similar to Apple's iPod page only black instead of white.

Yes? Maybe a nice reflection on the logo.

Comments?

Website cont'd

Okay, so I need to know:

- Colour scheme of the MPS player itself (the main one we'll market)
- logo/name for the player (not "sound ideas")
- distinguishing feature
- distinguishing design elements/marks

2.12.07

Website

So, suggestions anyone? I plan on getting started on a mock up this week and I won't be making overly complicated changes once it's done, so get 'em in now! ^^

28.11.07

this is one bad ass player... who ever came up with the solar recharging idea... nicely done. for the research part, am i to do comparisons of similar models ie. players with video capacity and the main features as ours?

Hee...

Yeah, sorry if that was a little violent. I just REALLY want to get this project out of the way as soon as possible.

"Get 'er done" as it were.

27.11.07

hey laura, not need to give me bruises i'm gonna be on top of that tomorrow for ya. i'll most likely be in the commons all day so feel free to pop in there. if i have any questions i'll post them on this i guess unless there is an easier way to get a hold of you?

List of Tasks ... Too Bad For You - Stop Complaining

Amanda - Website, Flash interactive thingy (you know what you're doing...even if I have no idea)

Jesse - 3D Modeling - make a video of it turning around and send it to Amanda so she can do the Flash interactive scope for it (ask her - not me - if you're confused because I have no idea how to use Flash)

Vijayant - Design the device - send this to Jesse; also, please write REASONS as to WHY someone should pick our product over Apple's, Sony's etc. Please see #7 of the discussion called "Final Project for DMA 188" on the Facebook group "DMA Ninja Marines of Seneca".

Mike - Research and Development, Interactivity Matrix > Research other MP3 players (LIST YOUR SOURCES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and see what works, what does not. Please write the "Function" column of the matrix (detailed) and send it to ME - laura.nicole@mac.com

Andrew - Research and Development, Interactivity Matrix > Research other MP3 players (LIST YOUR SOURCES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and see what works, what does not. Laura - Site Map, Interactivity Matrix - I'll be doing the site map and sending it to Amanda. I will also be doing some R&D then writing the "Feature" section of the Matrix as well as all that crap in between (interface, driver, tactile, audio, visual, etc). Yes, lucky me.

Please comment on this post to say that you have read it.
If you do not ... I may have to hurt you.

Site Map Cont.

LOL "Vista EWWWW"indeed XD.....Sarcasm Laura, Sarcasm.

So yeah Laura, you have mentioned pretty much everything that would be on the site ...............hmmmmmmmmmmmm, I think that the Customers would probably like,

  • Online Purchasing
  • User Comments
  • Monthly Featured Model
  • Various Contests
  • Help/Troubleshoot
  • iTunes Music Database = Users being able to purchase and "send" music from the web-site to the MP3.

.......I can't think of anything else for now... maybe later.

24.11.07

Site Map

So guys, we need a site map for next week. Start throwing out words and important stuff you'd need to know about an MP3 player and stuff you'd like to see on a site. Here's a few that come to mind:

  • Specs
  • System Requirements
  • Colors it comes in
  • A video/interactive run through the features
  • 3D model/different views of the device
  • Accessories
  • What's included
  • ...?

20.11.07

Android

I was thinking we could use googles android. ?

*edit* no.
YA it was a dumb idea I admit it - I will get a cool video up in a bit !

18.11.07

Well, batch renaming would be pointless for songs since every song has a different title and artist. Though if you COULD make artist/song title/album corrections right on the MP3 player, it might be beneficial. Or the player could just do it automatically without you having to type it at all.

I think if we go any further than that (ie: installing Window's Vista [ps: Vista? Really? EWWW!]) we'd be a pocket PC which is essentially a palm pilot but more sophisticated.

17.11.07

" it would be cool if we also had something like bridge that batch names the files as well. :D "

Why not we install Windows Vista and Photoshop CS3 on the dang mp3 while we are at it (SARCASM)..... XD

14.11.07

About the tag editing - it would be cool if we also had something like bridge that batch names the files as well. :D

13.11.07

Feature: "Editing File Tags...On The Device"

I'm not exactly sure if the new i pod touch...touches on this issue I have haha, I'm pretty serious about how my music is organized, lets say I've uploaded some songs or video's (whether or not it's legal or illegal), but I realize as I'm playing them, the titles/artists/track number or something noticeable is either missing or wrong, I would have to plug the player into the computer and edit the info from the computer, maybe giving the option to have "real time tag editing" on the device would be kinda cool, I know the I pod touch has a touch keyboard function, maybe using something similar to it, I'm just not sure why no company has actually done this yet.
The play button was VJ's Idea. XD

Two head phone jacks are cool. I was thinking of all this stuff too. I think we really need one major feature the WOW feature that will make people line up to get this puppy. I'm working on it. Just can't put my finger on what that is. It has something to do with satellite feeds.

I-touch has it's touch and that is there wow feature we need that and more.
REALLY like the logos, Jesse. Especially the new one with the play symbol in the middle. VERY NICE.

And the product names are awesome! I think the "Si" might be better than "SI" because it harks back (tee hee. good phrase there) to the logo which has a small "i" and not a capital one.

Really, really awesome.

I also really like the concept art you did, Vijayant. But I think the screen might be a little too busy for a touch screen. You have to be able to press the screen with your finger to select a menu. But otherwise, I really like the shape of it and everything else.

I was thinking ... maybe it could have a dual headphone jack. Someone I know has an MP3 player with 2 head phone jacks and it's pretty awesome/convenient.

11.11.07

Some excellent stuff going on here. I think I'm done with this.
EDIT: even better -

10.11.07

Possible Product Names:

SI=Sound Ideas...The name can be with OR without the "Si."

Si. Clamor - Si. Slice - Si. Acoustic - Si.Rumble - Si. Apache - Si. Pulse - Si. Thunder - Si. Ampere - Si. Contour (its a circuit which adds a bass boost to get equal loudness at low volumes AKA LOUDNESS!!)......yeah that's all for now..what you think??

Mp3 Concept A

Here you go dudes and dudetts. This here is ONE of the concepts that I have been working on. I have included the Front & the Rear view in Concept A; will be working on the side view in a few minutes..lol. Notice, that in this concept, I HAVE include 3 buttons (hardware; not in the software) which can be determined as ......Power On/Off, Radio AM/FM switch and... yeah a wi-fi enable/disable switch (feat: the user is able to connect to the web using wi-fi, in order to buy songs, update/synchronize playlists with other users/devices; pc, cellphone etc.) The solar panels are o the real of the MP3 as a mini solar panel is also on the front (near the left/bottom speaker). You will find the hardware (on the rear view), labeled, in the next post

I have a heck load of ideas but I still require a detailed list of the feats. for our MP3. So, I suggest that we begin to brainstorm and come up with a new list of features for the our product.

Up dated - Forgot the "s" + everyone I asked did not see the "I"

I was thinking to put the logo were you have the image of you on your blog Laura (above blog archive). Both places would be nice.

About what I was thinking - YES lame image i know. You are able to hold it with your pointing finger and thumb. Selecting different modes. Then sliding the thumb up and down to toggle between the different selections (Vol, Music, Radio, rec.). I had text down the side but did not realize it was not there. The white lines are radio stations.

Page Edits

Alright, added. If anyone needs any other edits done to the page just let me know. Oh yeah, btw,  awesome job Jesse.

I actually had an interesting design for an MP3 player drawn up on the last test so I have a few ideas myself, mostly involving features, benefits and usability. I can try to redraw the diagrams or wait until he hands back the midterms.

Here are a few of the ideas I had:
  • Solar power panels - stores up power to use when the battery runs out and allows the MP3 player to run for a bit more time
  • Different modes for radio and stored media - When the tuning button is turned left it activates AM radio stations and when turned right it activates FM radio stations
  • And 'Edit' switch - so that the internal folders cannot be accidentally accessed when skimming through music
+ more

And I find it annoying how we cannot comment on each other's posts...

LOGO - concept

Hi everyone - here is the logo I made. I don't know if there is a way to make all of us able to edit the blogger page. I wanted to put this in the corner nice and small to fit. maybe you can do that for me Laura.

I also have some cool ideas for the player, I will do some sketches and put them up later, ok.

Have a good weekend guys ... and gals.

Meeting 1: Names and Ideas

Group Members Attending:
Laura K.
Mike M.
Jesse A.
Vijayant S.

Group Members Missing:
Amanda D.

Discussion Overview:
  • Company name
  • Company identity (logo, colors, etc)
  • Product name
  • Product features and benefits
Company Name

The name that we came up with was "Sound Ideas". This came out of a list of various words regarding sound such as: sonic, wave, listening, boom, volume, blast. We also liked the words pure, organic and technology. We chose the name "Sound Ideas" because it has a double meaning: "Sound Ideas" can refer to the MP3 players that we create but it can also refer to a good idea.

Company Identity

Our logo, which we are still working on, is based on a light bulb - representing the word "ideas" - and sound waves. So far we have a working image of a light bulb as a speaker with sound waves coming out of it. Colors and schemes that we liked included black, silver, pewters and other metallic themes.

Product Name

We have yet to come up with a name for our product as we decided to do research on other MP3 players as well as design ours first before we pick a name. We decided to pick something with very little syllables, catchy and descriptive of the product (ie: the size of the the MP3 player).

Product Features and Benefits

Features that we would like to include are: different skins that you can change in one touch, a touch screen, audio, video, camera and USB/BlueTooth connectivity.
